Certain Korean Universities...
The university where I work is famous for its leafy, forested campus and interesting buildings. I say 'interesting' because Korea is not exactly the place where I was expecting to find neoclassical and gothic architecture reminiscent of Oxford, Cambridge or Harvard. I find it ironic that Koreans feel the need to validate their own universities by mimicking the architecture of those in the West. Still, I have to confess that there is something special about walking home every evening past the imposing peace hall building. It reminds me of the soaring cathedrals I used to glimpse up at when I lived in Germany and France. This has got to be one of the most serene places in Seoul, and well worth a stroll around in spring and fall.
